Job Overview
The Callaway is seeking an experienced communications professional to manage and oversee a team of expert freelance Strategists servicing clients in areas of fashion, beauty, design, retail and hospitality. The GM role is a tactical management position that includes working with agency founder and CEO Libby Callaway to create top-level client strategies, communicating them to the Strategists, and then ensuring that the plan is executed by the Strategists in a thoughtful, thorough and timely manner. This role is ideal for a proactive leader with excellent interpersonal and management skills and an elevated, sophisticated style of delivery.
The GM is responsible for overseeing all client accounts and ensuring that they are executed with The Callaway’s signature white-glove approach. This includes:
Working with Libby and to develop dynamic client strategies for each account and direct, manage and oversee our team of Strategists and the Event Specialist to execute them in a timely and professional manner. (The Strategists’ roles encompass media relations, community integration, content creation, social media, and influencer outreach.)
Supervising the day-to-day operations of the Strategists and serving as an additional point of contact for all clients, ensuring that their needs are being met.
Managing the creation of contracts and invoices, communicating directly with The Callaway’s CFO to ensure timely delivery of both.
Designing, implementing and overseeing internal management strategies that ensure company-wide organization and that The Callaway’s clients are being serviced to the highest degree, proactively creating a systematic workspace that keeps everyone on the team organized and moving forward.
Identifying and pursuing opportunities that will raise the profile of The Callaway and Libby Callaway.
Our ideal GM has a proven track record of excellence in lifestyle PR (experience within the fashion, beauty, hospitality, and design spaces is not a requirement, but would be helpful) and can demonstrate a high level of competency in previous management positions. This is an active, hands-on position that involves working directly with clients and freelance Strategists to ensure that their work exceeds our contractual obligations. This is currently a part-time position designed for someone with excellent time management skills and who prefers a versatile work schedule. While a Nashville-based expert is ideal, most of The Callaway’s work is done virtually, which would allow the GM to work from anywhere, with occasional trips to Nashville for strategy meetings with Libby and freelance members of the team.

And this level of experience:
Five or more years in an agency setting, with two or more years spent excelling in a role where they managed a team and planned and led large projects to fruition
Have held positions that afforded them both a deep understanding of traditional public relations and a firm grasp on modern marketing, including influencer oversight and social media
High-level competence in a range of basic business functions, including data management, HR and finance

Where & How We Work
We currently do not have a physical office: our team members work from their homes. You should expect to have multiple weekly phone or Zoom conversations with Libby and the Strategists under your purview. Regular trips to Nashville for planning sessions are to be expected,
