The Callaway is seeking an experienced communications professional to oversee our interior design client accounts. The Design Strategist role is an ongoing freelance position that involves conceiving, planning and executing dynamic client strategies, and delivering them with a sophisticated approach and a professional and thorough manner.
The Strategist’s role is highly client-facing and ideal for an organized, detail-oriented, self-starting PR professional with prior agency or in-house experience who is looking for more flexibility and variety in their schedule. The goal of “hiring” for this position is to establish a consistent long-term relationship with a talented professional who can take on multiple projects in the design space for The Callaway as they arise throughout the year.
Job Overview
The Design Strategist position will work with CEO Libby Callaway and the General Manager to create dynamic client strategies that the Design Strategist will then execute in a professional and timely manner. The Design Strategist is the first point of contact for our design clients, which include the annual Nashville Antiques & Garden Show.
The Design Strategist’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
day to day client oversight
identifying and pursuing press placement in local, regional and national markets
overseeing social media strategy
influencer relations
writing press materials
client reporting
digital ad buys
written asset creation
managing client budgets
top-level social media strategy
If the client strategy includes events, the Design Strategist will collaborate with the Events Manager to create a memorable gathering designed to celebrate and elevate the profile of the client.

Professional in all of their dealings, both internal and client-facing
Responsive and thorough in both their word and work, and fair, warm and honest in their interpersonal dealings
Highly skilled at both traditional and modern PR and marketing tactics
An excellent communicator who speaks and writes clearly and efficiently
Responsive, dependable, and adaptable: they are an optimistic problem solver who work quickly and without drama
A people-person with a large, engaged personal and professional network
Details-oriented, organized and efficient
Kind and warm, but tough when they must be
And this level of experience:
Three or more years in an agency setting or the equivalent
A proven track record for excellent work in the area of design PR
Have held positions that have granted them a deep understanding of traditional public relations and more modern marketing tactics, including influencer oversight and social media management
Come to the job with strong national press contacts
Compensation

Where & How We Work
The Callaway does not currently have a physical office: our team members work from their homes. You should expect to have multiple weekly phone or Zoom conversations with Libby and the strategists under your purview.
